But Satan explained what he really meant and what he should have said to be clear, and Eve said, “Well, Okay then.”

And she took a big bite from the fruit. And then smiling, she handed it to Adam, standing beside her, and explained, “I told you it was good!” And they both ate. 

And it is so with the flag; while we try to identify the source of our present despair, we bow more deeply before the idol, knowing wrongly that it is the true source of our strength.
