Away . . . (12/23/2022) and The Gift

Aug 12th 2023

Away . . . .

.  . in a manger no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus lay now his sweet head the stars in the sky look down where he lay. The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay. . .

I’m sure you've heard it know the rest. The song is a wonderful teaching tool for small children. But at age 12, they need more, and even more at 16. Somewhere between the 5 year old and the teen who feels he is ready to challenge formerly regarded elders, they need the Lord. And they need all of Him!

Someone more powerful than the manger Lord. Someone who knows all. Someone who is everywhere.

And they need all that the word Lord entails: • master, • one who rules, • one having power and authority over others, • a ruler by hereditary right or preeminence to whom service and obedience are due.  Not a baby?

The Gift

I needed to be rescued. I just couldn't take it any more!

At my lowest point I cried out from embarrassment and need and He sends me a baby?

Never mind that I'm already stretched to my limit -- this baby starts kicking; making demands, growing inside of me controlling what I do, what I say, what I hear; pushing away all the mess, declaring Himself King, and making me strong.

Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
